CCA statement on State of California Grant

Regarding the $20 million grant from the State of California to the California College of the Arts (CCA), the college shared the following statement:

In the spring of 2025, CCA received a one-time, $20 million grant from the State of California. CCA’s leadership and Board of Trustees are grateful to Governor Newsom, legislative leaders, and the legislature as a whole for supporting this funding.

CCA’s request to the State was to support what the college called “people, place, and programs,” with an emphasis on operational expenses that will benefit students. These funds protected California jobs and saved student degrees.

These State funds continue to be used as they were intended, even as CCA’s situation has changed. In alignment with the college’s request for funding, over the next 18 months, these funds will continue to support our people, our place, and our programs.

Indeed, Californians will continue to directly benefit from this state funding through the academic year 2026-2027: students are benefiting from the resources allocated as a result of this funding, and most staff and faculty remain employed by CCA, with their benefits. These funds ensure that CCA continues to deliver a high-quality education and offer the unique programs we discussed with State leadership.

CCA again thanks California state leadership for their support.
